2020 COVID-19 Emergency Fund Awards

On April 20, TPIF awarded $120,000 to 26 organizations to share in our COVID-19 Emergency Fund, supporting the most vulnerable within the LGBTQ community due to the arrival of the Coronavirus. TPIF decided to direct funds as soon as possible – where most needed – and suspend our 2020 competitive Grants Program that launched in February. Our primary objective was support agencies providing a safety net to those most vulnerable to COVID-19; our emergency funds are also going to smaller organizations whose operations and revenues have been severely impacted by this crisis.

We are proud to say that through this action, our 2020 funding reached community partners six months ahead of plan.

Operating under shelter-in-place orders dramatically affects service delivery to the Texas LGBTQ community by so many of the nonprofit organizations providing basic needs including medical/mental health, housing and nutrition/food services.  Recipients of TPIF’s COVID-19  Emergency Fund come from smaller communities and cities around the state including Corpus Christi, Eagle Pass, New Braunfels, Lubbock and Midland as well as organizations serving multi-county regions in the urban centers of Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, El Paso, Houston and San Antonio.
